Telkom Kenya has in the recent past embarked on making drastic changes to its operations and management, in a bid to better compete in Kenya’s highly competitive telecomms space. The company most recently restructured its workforce, a move that saw 500 employees exit the company. Then Telkom Kenya CEO Aldo Mareuse also left the company, with the position being taken over by Mugo Kibati.
In the spirit of change, the telecommunications firm has now appointed Steve Okeyo to the position of Managing Director for Telkom’s Mobile Division. He takes over from Amer Atwi who has exited the company, who had been with the company since 2016.
Telkom Kenya CEO, Mugo Kibati said, “Amer played a strategic role in Telkom’s overall turnaround, during this period, having come with a proven track record in Telco leadership, handling dynamic markets in West Africa. He led and was highly instrumental in Telkom’s rebrand from Orange, our revamped distribution network as well as our re-aligned product development strategy. In the last three years, Amer and his team have positioned Telkom as the mobile data services provider of choice.”
