Start-up Zoie Health launches digital health, wellness clinic for women

Zoie Health Technologies, a South African company has launched a digital women’s health and wellness clinic that allows users to get healthcare advice from professionals.

The founders, Thato Schermer and Dr. Nonhlanhla Sitole said the platform was motivated by personal experiences, as well as the rising need for digital healthcare targeted towards women.

“We realized that although there is a lot of innovation in the medical space, there was no one focusing on one key customer – women,” Schermer said.

In the last 15 months, South Africa has witnessed a massive shift towards digital healthcare which was influenced by the COVID 19 pandemic and the restrictions that came with it that prevent physical interactions in clinics and hospitals. The country’s healthcare has been evolving and driven by artificial intelligence, mobile technology, and other emerging technologies. Digitation of the healthcare has assisted in providing medication, record sharing, patient intake, patient treatment t, and tracking.

Schermer stated that: “The idea behind Zoie Health was to make everything accessible online, from virtual consultations to requesting medication. We want the entire process to be easy and endless from finding a provider to getting meds delivered to homes. By making the chain tech-inclined, we are able to simplify, streamline and integrate access to healthcare services.”

To provide expert assistance and content that are informative, the duo collaborated with a team of independent specialists, from doulas to lactation consultants.

Sitole says that the advantage of this model is that it empowers service providers and provide them the platform to offer faster and better service to clients as the quest for online solution increases.

“Users can go online to get assistance around fertility issues; organize a baby wellness check in the comfort of their own home; ask for advice about breastfeeding; find out about post-pregnancy fitness; ask other mothers how they are dealing with the specific challenge. Just as you would visit a clinic for an entire range of health issues, so Zoie functions as a one-stop service for almost every aspect of women’s health and wellness.”

Schermer said Zoie Health is a safe space for women, where they can access all the care they need and are both accessible and affordable.
