Spotify is set to launch in South Africa. This is according to a job Advert which has created speculations that its services will soon be available to the South African market.

While a launch date and prices for Spotify in South Africa have not been set, the service is expected to offer its standard packages:

    • Spotify Free – shuffle play with ads and limited song skips.
    • Spotify Premium – $9.99 per month in the US with a 30-day free trial.
    • Spotify Family – $14.99 per month for you and up to 5 people who live with you.
    • Spotify Premium for Students – $4.99 per month (includes Hulu in the US).

In its ad, Spotify said: “We are looking for a broadly experienced senior editor/music programmer to join Spotify’s shows and editorial team, responsible for South Africa, located in London or Dubai. You will identify and curate first-rate music playlist listening and programming experiences for a multitude of our moods, moments and genres, demonstrate a passion for performance-orientated analytics, and you will have your ear to the ground in the music community, focusing on South Africa.”

Spotify had been planning to launch in South Africa as far back as 2014 and is now available in 61 markets around the world. The music streaming service has over 60 million subscribers and 140 million active users.
