South African-based startup RNR, an on-demand breakdown management platform for truck fleets, has secured ZAR12 million (US$640,000) in funding aimed at expanding its team and extending its reach in Southern Africa.
Established in 2019 by founders Wayne and Michelle Witherspoon, RNR, which stands for “Right Now Response”, uses technology to promptly match supply with demand. The firm offers breakdown support to truck fleet managers and truck OEMs through its national network of verified mechanics, electricians, and repair centres.
RNR’s model of engaging their nearest subcontractor considerably improves response times and completes 70 per cent of repairs at the breakdown site, significantly reducing towing costs and freight delays. Their app and web portal provides clients with round-the-clock breakdown monitoring, including real-time location tracking from the point of service acceptance to roadside and workshop repair.
HAVAÍC, a South African VC firm, led the ZAR10 million (US$555,000) funding in February 2023, and has also chaired the recent ZAR12 million (US$640,000) round.
In the last year, RNR has seen an 86 per cent increase in revenue and handled 87 per cent more monthly breakdowns through its platform. The enterprise has also grown its network of suppliers and mechanics across Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. The new funding will bolster RNR’s capacity to expand its team and further enlarge its tech platform in Southern Africa.
RNR looks forward to continuing its strategic partnership with HAVAÍC as they embark on their next phase of growth, according to Wayne Witherspoon, CEO and co-founder of RNR.
