We are back with an official report confirming Sony’s 2021 flagship, Xperia 1 III.
Sony says, “Experience breathtaking speed in everything you do“. This is true as the new Xperia 1 III comes with an immersive 4K HDR OLED display with its rapid 120Hz refresh rate. If you’re a photographer, you will love the triple-lens camera which features fast AF even when shooting extended telephoto.
It has uncommon audio and gaming. The smartphone will compete with the very best in the Android market. It is retaining its 21:9 aspect ratio. This means it’s similar to last year’s Xperia 1 II in height and thickness. The stereo speakers in front keep you fully immersed as you view all kinds of video and gaming-related content.
The SmartPhone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of microSD card expandable storage. The battery’s rate is 4,500mAh, with 30W wired and Qi wireless charging as well (charging speed isn’t specified here). It also has a scanner mounted at the side, and which scans fingerprint for biometric unlock and device security.
At its rearview, there’s a Zeiss-powered quad camera setup. This is undoubtedly Sony Xperia 1 III’s core feature. In terms of sensor layout, some tweaks were made to the Sony Xperia 1 I. The lens setups have been co-developed with the Sony Alpha camera team, and are rated in more traditional camera focal lengths.
The triple 12-megapixel layout consists of a 24mm main wide lens, a 16mm ultrawide lens, and a dual PD variable optics sensor. It allows the physical movement of the telephoto lens between two focal lengths.
Another thing to prepare for is the phone’s ability to operate as an external camera. Note that it will ship with Android 11 – pre-installed with a suite of Sony Pro camera apps loaded and ready to dive into. As seen in the different images, the Xperia 1 III two colours – Frosted Purple and Frosted Black. Though the price is yet to be made public, expect to be able to pick up this latest flagship from “Summer 2021.”
