Sony has just unveiled its latest compact flagship – the Xperia 5 V. The phone introduces an overhauled camera system that drops the telephoto unit while incorporating a significantly larger primary sensor.
Weighing 187g, the Xperia 5 V measures 165mm by 71mm by 8.3mm. It sports a 6.5″ 21:9 wide display and a 4K HDR OLED (3840 X 1644) display resolution.
It has a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in front and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus at the back. This device is water resistant and protected against dust. The device has been tested under Ingress Protection rating IP65/68.
It has a dual camera setup at the back – Camera 1: 52MP (Full Aspect) / 48MP (Effective / 12MP (Still image recording); Camera 2: 12MP and a 12MP front camera. The Xperia 5 V has a new improved bokeh mode that will elevate your portrait pictures closer to professional cameras, even at night. You can bring dark scenes to life and capture what the naked eye can’t see with the Night Shooting feature. The Night Shooting is available in JPEG, with Basic and Auto mode.
Sony has integrated the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset into the Xperia 5 V, accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, with the option to expand storage using the microSD card slot. Operating system is Android 13.
The battery remains unchanged with a 5,000mAh capacity, but due to the enhanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, we anticipate improved battery life on the Xperia 5 V. Sony asserts that, with its 30W charger (available separately), you can achieve a 50% charge in just 30 minutes.
The Sony Xperia 5 V will be available late September and costs €999 in Europe and £849 in the UK. It is available in three colours – Khaki Green, Platinum Silver and Black.
