Songhai Labs, a knowledge broker platform based in Cameroon and SatSure have entered a partnership agreement to launch an Open Innovation Platform for Agriculture and AgTech ecosystems, where experts from diverse sectors and backgrounds can come together to create innovative solutions for agricultural problems.

The platform allows African agritech startups to access to agricultural data generated by SatSure. Songhai Labs will coordinate and pilot the new platform in the Africa Region while SatSure will provide the Technical expertise.

Songhai Labs will represent Satsure in Africa, connect them to local governments, companies, and organizations likely to use satellite technology.

“We will primarily focus on satellite technology applications in the agriculture sector at the beginning, this will involve building the platform, training farmers, agriculture organizations, and research organizations in the use of satellite technology to improve the productivity of the agricultural sector.

“The long term vision could include business and government partnerships that will benefit not just the agricultural sector but other sectors such as Utilities, Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Education and Research,” said Charles Awanda, Founder and CEO of the Cameroon based knowledge broker.

A couple of years ago, Satsure worked with a company in Singapore exploring opportunities in the Agricultural sector in Nigeria, However, it is expected that the new partnership with Songhai Labs will lead to a major expansion that will go beyond Nigeria and extend to other African countries.
