Snapchat introduces Chat 2.0 with videos and stickers

Snapchat is an app targeted towards the young generation between the ages of 13 – 23 so you can be excused if you are not on Snapchat. But you cannot sniffle at the statistics – 9,000 snaps per second,  8 billion video views a day, more than 100 million daily active users – this is a company that Facebook offered to buy for $3 billion in 2013.

When it first launched in September 2011, its goal was to emulate the best parts of face-to-face conversation. Chat 1.0 “was all about the joys of being here — when most apps told you when your friend was typing, Chat let you know that your friend was listening.”

Now Chat 2.0, launched on Tuesday, has a video chatting feature which you can activate with just one tap. Your friend can simply listen if you want to sing them a song, or watch if you have a new puppy to show them. If they aren’t there, you can quickly send an audio note to say what you mean or choose from over 200 stickers

With Chat 2.0, you can transition between all these ways of communicating. When that’s possible, you aren’t texting, calling, or video chatting… you’re just talking.

Snapchat also introduced Auto-Advance Stories, the fastest way to catch up with your friends. When you finish a Story, the next one begins automatically — simply swipe to skip ahead, or pull down to exit!

Straight talk. I tell it like it is. Obvious but elusive. I do love technology and marvel comics/films. No you can't see me. I am like "The Stig" in Top Gear or like Lagbaja. Now you see me, now you don't
