The sixth edition of the Ocean Innovation Africa (OIA) summit is scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from February 24-28, 2025. This event will serve as a flagship component of Regenerative Ocean Week, positioning itself as Africa’s most significant platform for ocean innovation, conservation, and sustainable development within the blue economy.
OIA2025 will be co-organized with leading partners, including the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), OceanHub Africa, Catalyze, and the Ocean-Climate Platform. These collaborations aim to enhance the summit’s impact and reach.
The event will gather a diverse group of African ocean innovators, investors, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to explore and discuss practical solutions that can be implemented across the continent. The theme for Regenerative Ocean Week, “Science-to-Solution,” will feature a series of sessions designed to bridge the gap between scientific research, business innovation, policy-making, and community engagement.
One of the key highlights of the summit will be the OIA Pitch Competition. This competition provides a platform for Africa-based startups and entrepreneurs to showcase their breakthrough ideas in ocean-impact solutions. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with investors and industry leaders, emphasizing Africa’s pivotal role in driving sustainable ocean initiatives.
