Sistema.bio, a Nairobi-based biogas technology company, has announced the acquisition of Inclusive Energy (IE), a digital monitoring platform for solar and biogas systems. This acquisition comes less than two weeks after Sistema.bio secured $15 million to scale its clean energy technology across Africa. The acquisition significantly enhances Sistema.bio’s capacity to deliver high-impact biogas solutions with advanced digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) capabilities.
This will benefit farmers globally by providing improved service and long-term support. The integration of IE’s technology will also facilitate remote diagnostics, usage analytics for carbon reporting, and data insights for predictive maintenance. This enables the company to better support farmers and partners with a real-time monitoring system for biogas digesters, utilizing intelligent sensing and communication tools.
Inclusive Energy (IE) is a leader in Digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV). Its IoT technology and digital platform offer biogas performance tracking, thereby enhancing the service and usage experience for farmers. According to a statement, this acquisition allows Sistema.bio to combine its position as the largest full-service biogas company with the first biogas-specific platform for dMRV. This combination will facilitate the large-scale delivery of carbon emission reduction projects with high-quality digital monitoring.
Alex Eaton, CEO and co-founder of Sistema.bio, stated that this development enables the company to accelerate both technologies to better serve farmers and reduce carbon and methane emissions. He emphasized that integrating the two companies is a strategic move to reinforce Sistema.bio’s commitment to climate action, accelerating progress toward achieving a 1% reduction in annual global GHG emissions by 2030.
Vijay Bhopal, CEO of Inclusive Energy, also commented on the partnership, noting that it positions them well to use IE’s digital technologies to enhance lives and strengthen credibility in the carbon markets. Joyce Cacho, Independent Board Chair at Sistema.bio, added that the IE technology enhances farmers’ ROI from biogas and regenerative agriculture systems by ensuring the integrity of carbon impact data. The acquisition does not affect any of IE’s existing customer and partner contracts, ensuring data confidentiality, service access, and maintenance.
