Simple Ways To Take Good Care Of Your Headphones

Headphones are important accessories that most times, you cannot do without. Good quality headphones aren’t cheap and failing to take good care of them can cause their sound performance to deteriorate over-time or lead to complete damage. So, here are ways to help you to preserve your earphones and make them last longer.

    Clean your earbuds

Remove the rubber earbuds and clean them out with a damp towel. Then, use a toothpick dipped in water to remove all the wax, dead skin cells, and dust from the inner areas of your earbud. Also, gently clean through the wires if it has accumulated dust.

Keep your earphones in a case

Store your earbuds in a protective case after you are done using it. Roll the earphones in a loose coil before storing it.

    Unplug your earphones after use

Leaving your earbuds attached to your mobile or laptop can lead to unforeseen damage. The cord can be pulled suddenly from the jack or the cord can get tangled, causing the copper cord inside to break. Unplugging your earphone after use will protect the audio connector and the delicate area where the cord connects to the jack.

Pull out the plug, not the cable

Most people, tug at the cable or the cord instead of the plug that is directly attached to the source. You should grip and pull the connector while removing the headphone from the audio source. Pulling the cable will put extra stress on the connector which will eventually damage it.

Avoid sleeping with your headphones on

Rolling over your headphones while sleeping can bend or snap your headphones. Just roll your earbuds in neat coils and place it in a safe place before going to bed.

Don’t carry the earbuds in your pocket

Refrain from carrying the earbuds in your pocket. Doing so can cause hard tangles that can be difficult to unravel and they have a high chance of being damaged by lint, dust, and other debris in your pocket. This ultimately leads to poor sound production. So, say no to the pocket carriage.
