    Showmax now available in Zimbabwe

Despite a recent 3-0 loss to Wolves, now sitting 14th in the table, and the looming possibility of facing relegation with our upcoming fixtures against the in-form Newcastle and Liverpool, I recently had the pleasure of watching Premier League games on Boxing Day using my device, thanks to Showmax. Yes, you heard that right—Showmax, and it’s available for just $4 per month!

MultiChoice Zimbabwe has launched the streaming platform Showmax, showcasing the significant growth and ongoing expansion of content as more people take advantage of the increasingly accessible streamed entertainment.

The launch event recently took place in Harare, where a team from MultiChoice engaged with consumers at the popular Honeydew shopping centre in Greendale. This event provided an excellent opportunity to share comprehensive information about the Showmax service and demonstrate how customers can best access it in their homes or on their mobile devices.

Showmax is a video-on-demand service that offers viewers a wide range of content, including films, television series, documentaries, children’s entertainment, English Premier League matches, and Showmax Originals. Competitively priced, Showmax provides unlimited access to both existing and new content that is added weekly. One of the standout features of the service is the ability for viewers to watch content at any time.

Showmax Entertainment is accessible on various devices and features a full array of international and regional content, including Showmax Originals and MultiChoice Originals. The platform offers content that is particularly popular among Zimbabweans, such as “My Brother’s Keeper,” “The River,” “Empini,” “Sibongile and the Dlamini’s,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Law, Love and Betrayal,” among other intriguing titles.

DStv customers can easily add Showmax to their active DStv packages. It is free for DStv Premium customers and available at discounted rates for other bouquet holders, who benefit from the convenience of paying for both DStv and Showmax simultaneously. Showmax offers different streaming settings for smart TVs, the web, or mobile devices, with data usage as low as 40MB per hour. This means that a 2GB data bundle can provide up to 50 hours of streaming entertainment.

The Showmax app allows users to download up to 25 titles to watch offline, with a variety of file sizes to choose from, but this feature is only available on mobile devices. Downloaded titles remain on the device for 30 days after downloading, but once viewers press play, the content is available for only 48 hours. If downloads expire, they can be downloaded again, provided the title is still available in the Showmax content library.

The revamped Showmax is projected to become Africa’s second-largest video-on-demand (VOD) platform
