If you’ve been following us, you would know all about Shopp!ng. But on the off-chance that you haven’t heard about the new Nigerian e-commerce player that could possibly get things really going in that space, please read about it here.
Armed with that context, it might interest you to know that the platform’s public launch has been scheduled for the 19th of January. In the meantime, they’ve also made the front-end interface available for public viewing.
The current interface is obviously still a beta iteration. And strangely, it seems designed for mobile only. They did say all a merchant would need is a mobile phone. Now, one can’t help wondering if what they actually meant is that mobile would be the only option. But we’ll find out soon enough, won’t we?
Shopp!ng’s entry into the space is validation for the entire Nigerian e-commerce sector. If their hosted e-commerce hosting solution works as advertised, it could take things to a whole new level. Shopp!ng for one is betting that in a time not too far from now, a majority of Nigerians will do most of their shopping online — yes, pun intended.
