    South African Internet of Things (IoT) startup Sensor Networks, specializing in insurance technology, has announced a strategic partnership with Ariston, the world’s largest manufacturer of geysers, to introduce advanced smart water heating solutions to South African households in 2025.

    Founded in 2015, Sensor Networks has developed a unique “smart geyser” platform designed to assist insurance companies in mitigating risk through the deployment of low-cost smart sensors and an integrated IoT platform. This innovative approach aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce operational costs for both insurers and consumers.

    The collaboration with Ariston comes after several months of intensive product development, refinement, and certification. This partnership will see Ariston geysers equipped with Sensor Networks’ smart geyser devices rolled out across leading plumbing retailers in South Africa. This initiative represents a significant milestone, as it marks the first instance of a locally developed smart geyser technology being adopted on such a large scale by a global leader in heating solutions.

    Consumers will benefit from Ariston’s renowned water heating systems, now enhanced by Sensor Networks’ cutting-edge smart technology. The Sensor Connect mobile app, developed locally, will empower homeowners with direct control over their energy consumption. This app will enable users to monitor, manage, and optimize their household electricity usage, leading to substantial savings on energy bills.

    Mark Allewell, CEO of Sensor Networks, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating;

    This partnership is a triumph for South African innovation. As a local startup, we have developed a smart geyser solution that meets global standards, and to have our technology integrated into Ariston’s product line is an incredible achievement. This collaboration enables us to scale our impact, helping thousands more South Africans reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint.

    Through this partnership, Sensor Networks and Ariston aim to revolutionize the water heating market in South Africa, providing consumers with smarter, more efficient solutions that not only enhance comfort but also contribute to sustainability efforts by reducing energy consumption and emissions.
