Caesar Sengupta, a senior Google executive, announced on Monday 22nd, 2021 that he was leaving the company. According to his post on LinkedIn, he said the reason is to venture out and start on a new mission.
Since he joined Google in 2006, the General Manager & VP, Payments and Next Billion Users was one of the key people behind the launch and success of Google Pay in India and helped the payment app’s relaunch in the U.S. and Singapore. The payment facility is now used by over 150 million users in 30 countries.
Though he is yet to decide what to do after his resignation, Sengupta confirmed that his last day at Google will be April 30th.
One of Google’s spokesperson who wrote in an email said that during Sengupta’s time at Google, he played a key role in starting, building and leading initiatives such as ChromeOS, Next Billion Users and Google Pay. “We are excited to see what he builds next and wish him the best in his new journey,” the spokesperson added.
Sengupta has said that he remains very positive about Google. The last words he wrote in his post were, “I leave Google with a heart full of gratitude, joy and many many deep friendships. I’m uncomfortably excited about the future. Wish me luck!”
