    SeamlessHR, a Nigerian company specializing in HR management solutions, has successfully raised a $9 million Series-A extension round. The new funding round saw contributions from the Gates Foundation and Helios Digital Ventures. This follows SeamlessHR’s previous $10 million Series A round raised in 2022.

    SeamlessHR plans to utilize the new funds to fuel its expansion across Africa, which may include potential acquisitions. Last year, the company was reportedly in discussions to acquire an HR tech startup in Nigeria.

    Initially, SeamlessHR aimed to raise $10 million but ultimately secured $9 million. This brings the company’s total funding to approximately $25 million. SeamlessHR’s funding history includes a $10 million Series A round in 2022 from investors such as TLCom, Capria, Lateral Frontiers, Ingressive Capital, and Enza Capital.

    In 2020, the company raised an undisclosed seed round from the same investors and Consonance Investment Managers. Additionally, SeamlessHR secured a $150,000 pre-seed round from Tofino Capital and Ventures Platform in 2019.

    Emmanuel Okeleji, SeamlessHR’s Co-founder and CEO, in a statement announcing the raise, commented;

    Over the last five years, we have expanded across the continent to become the dominant HR and Payroll Software for medium to large enterprises in Africa. While we continue to accelerate our work to optimize workforce productivity in both the public and private sectors across the continent, much of our attention will also be on empowering hardworking Africans with responsible credit products that will help them use their employment as collateral to enjoy a better life.

    Founded in 2018, SeamlessHR offers a cloud-based HR software solution designed to simplify human resources management. Their comprehensive suite of tools covers core HR functions, performance management, payroll, and recruitment. In 2024, the company expanded its product offerings to include an e-procurement platform.

    SeamlessHR has quickly become one of the leading HR tech providers in Africa, serving customers in Nigeria, Ghana, and Tunisia. Their client roster includes renowned brands such as PwC, Sterling Bank, and Lagos Business School.
