Nigerian edutech startup, ScholarX, has introduced a new feature, Village, to assist in funding students education. Village is an education crowdfunding platform where African students (Secondary and University) can create funds request and sponsors can search, discover and fund them.

On the Village page, there is one icon which students can use to apply for tuition funding and another for sponsors to sponsor a student.

It is very easy to create a funding request and it can be done within minutes. It is instructive to note that ScholarX is involved in vetting all applications for funding. The simple process is shown below.

As can be seen from the page, there are already nineteen requests in total and total amount raised to date is N20 000

This is a good one. And it’s long overdue. We should have had something like this before now. But, it’s better to be late than never, like they say. Students would be very excited over this startup. It’s going to serve as a leverage for those looking for financial assistance for the pursuance of their academics. I hope this would be made public in all Nigerian schools very soon, so that those interested can take advantage of it?
