    Open Access Energy (OAE), a South African software company specializing in optimizing energy transactions, has partnered with PEC Utility Management as its metering partner. This collaboration ensures a reliable national metering footprint and supports accurate billing for wheeling clients across South Africa.

    Founded in 2021, Open Access Energy has developed two innovative platforms, Amptera and Energypro, which facilitate real-time energy transactions and enhance energy management for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and municipalities. These platforms are designed to streamline energy operations and improve efficiency in the energy sector.

    In August, Innovation Village reported that Open Access Energy secured a US$750,000 investment from Factor E Ventures. This investment represents the initial tranche of a US$1.5 million seed round aimed at expanding the company’s operations. The partnership with PEC Utility Management, leveraging its established expertise and extensive coverage, will enable Open Access Energy to broaden its reach and ensure a consistent, accurate, and dependable metering service nationwide.

    This strategic partnership will empower wheeling customers to confidently manage billing for their end users, supported by the comprehensive national footprint provided by PEC. Additionally, it strengthens Open Access Energy’s offerings within its wheeling platform, which is designed to support the adoption of renewable energy across Eskom and multiple municipalities.

    In a further strategic move, PEC has entered into a collaboration with EverSolar, South Africa’s leading provider of renewable energy solutions. This partnership allows PEC clients to seamlessly share their meter data on Open Access Energy’s Energypro platform, providing them with enhanced visibility into their energy usage and facilitating better energy management.

    Gerjo Hoffman, CEO of Open Access Energy, emphasized the significance of these partnerships;

    This partnership with PEC and EverSolar marks a significant milestone in Open Access Energy’s mission to enhance energy reliability and affordability for all South Africans. It reflects our ongoing efforts to build a future where South African businesses and municipalities can access cleaner, more affordable energy solutions.

    Through these collaborations, Open Access Energy aims to drive the transition towards renewable energy, improve energy management, and contribute to a more sustainable and efficient energy landscape in South Africa.
