Nigerian senators are set to receive training on how to use Facebook and other social media tools as approved by the president of the Nigerian senate, Senator Bukola Saraki.

The training is expected to enhance communication skills of the 109 members of the house, helping them to communicate effectively on issues of public policy and good governance.

The training announcement was contained in a statement by Senator Isa Galaudu, chief of staff to Senate President Bukola Saraki. According to him, the training is in line with Saraki’s promise to bring about a more representative legislature through use of technology and tools for an electronic parliament.

The training will hold next week, and will be conducted by the head of public policy for Facebook Africa Ebele Okobi. The statement revealed that the Facebook team will arrive Nigeria on Sunday.
