Samsung Electronics has officially launched the highly anticipated Galaxy S24 series during a vibrant event held at the prestigious Eko Hotels’ Grand Ball Room. This unveiling follows the company’s presentation of these cutting-edge devices at its offices yesterday, disclosed during a press conference held in Kings Cross, London.
The Galaxy S24 series comprises three smartphones: Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24. According to Samsung, this new series is set to redefine mobile experiences with the incorporation of Galaxy AI, leading the way into a transformative era for mobile devices.
TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, expressed how the Galaxy S24 series is poised to transform users’ connection with the world, ushering in the next decade of mobile innovation. The introduction of Galaxy AI is seen as a groundbreaking move, enhancing various aspects of life through intelligent features and capabilities.
The integration of AI on the Galaxy S24 series amplifies numerous experiences, ranging from barrier-free communication with intelligent text and call translations to unleashing creative freedom with the Galaxy ProVisual Engine. This series aims to set a new standard for search functionalities, fundamentally changing how Galaxy users explore the world around them.
Roh emphasised that Galaxy AI is built on Samsung’s rich innovation heritage and a deep understanding of user behaviors with smartphones. He expressed excitement about witnessing users worldwide leveraging Galaxy AI to empower their everyday lives and unlock new possibilities.
Enhanced Communication Experiences with Galaxy AI:
Samsung’s Galaxy AI focuses on introducing meaningful intelligence, particularly aimed at enhancing communication, a fundamental role of smartphones. Notable features include the Live Translate feature, enabling real-time voice and text translation for phone calls within the native app. This feature facilitates seamless communication, breaking down language barriers and allowing users to interact globally without the need for third-party apps.
The Interpreter feature enables instant translation of live conversations on a split-screen view, offering a text transcription for participants to read. Notably, this works without the need for cellular data or Wi-Fi, ensuring privacy and accessibility. Chat Assist within messages and other apps helps perfect conversational tones, ensuring communication intentions are accurately conveyed.
Revolutionising Online Search with Circle to Search
Galaxy S24 marks a historic milestone in search capabilities by introducing Circle to Search with Google, an intuitive, gesture-driven search feature. Users can perform a long press on the home button and use gestures like circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping on any part of the screen to receive high-quality search results.
Stephen Okwara, Product Manager, MX Division, Samsung Electronics West Africa, highlighted the significance of this gesture-driven search, offering users a powerful tool for discovery without leaving the app they are using.
Revolutionary Camera Capabilities and Sustainability:
The ProVisual Engine in the Galaxy S24 series introduces a suite of AI-powered tools that enhance image-capturing capabilities and creative freedom. The Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a Quad Tele System, featuring a new 5x optical zoom lens, ensuring optical-quality performance at varying zoom levels. Enhanced Nightography capabilities enable brilliant photos and videos in any condition, even during zoomed-in shots.
The Galaxy AI editing tools enable users to perform simple edits, and features like Edit Suggestion use AI to suggest suitable tweaks for each photo. The devices are designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating recycled steel and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) in specific components. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in particular, features a minimum of 40% recycled steel in the speakers and at least 10% pre-consumer recycled TPU in the side and volume keys.
Customer-Centric Initiatives:
To cater to the Nigerian audience, Samsung has introduced Trade-in and Flexpay (pay small-small) options for the Galaxy S24 series. Additionally, customers can pre-order the devices from January 17 to February 12, unlocking benefits worth up to N500,000. The Galaxy S24 Ultra stands out as the first Galaxy phone with a titanium frame, enhancing device durability and longevity.
As people start getting their hands on the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung is excited about the creativity and exploration it may spark. These devices are packed with advanced AI features and top-notch specifications, aiming to be more than just phones – they want to be your companions that go beyond what you expect. Samsung encourages users to join in this innovation journey and explore all the exciting possibilities that the Galaxy S24 series brings to the world of mobile technology.
