This is good news for those that cannot afford Samsung’s high-end phones as the company is planning to initiate a smartphone refurbishment service where users can buy second-hand phones at affordable prices.
According to reports, the company will refurbish sophisticated phones returned by customers who sign up for its one-year upgrade programme. The company will then re-sell these phones at lower prices.
The phones that are likely to feature in this programme include Galaxy S7 and S7 edge as well as the Galaxy Note 7 and it is expected to be launched in South Korea and the United States as early as next year.
Samsung’s biggest rival Apple is already selling refurbished iPhone in several markets. However, some analyst say that Samsung’s plans to start selling fairly used Smartphones may inadvertently affect the sales of Samsung mid-tier phones like the Samsung J5.
