Samsung has announced new updates aimed at enhancing the audio capabilities of its devices, including a Live Translate feature in its Galaxy S24 series. This new feature transforms the phone into a real-time interpreter for phone calls or in-person conversations when paired with the updated Galaxy Buds.
This technology allows users to hear translations in their own language through their earbuds, while the person they’re speaking with can hear the conversation in their language through the phone’s speaker. Samsung claims this method promises smoother conversation flow without needing to pass the phone back and forth. While there was a noticeable delay during testing, this tool could prove incredibly useful for travelers.
Samsung is also expanding Auracast support to its smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy S24 series. Auracast, a Bluetooth technology, enables the broadcasting of audio from devices to an unlimited amount of nearby listening devices such as headphones, speakers, and earbuds. Initially, the technology was exclusive to Samsung smart TVs, but now Galaxy Buds users can use Auracast to broadcast audio from their mobile devices.
Furthermore, users of Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Buds2 will experience 360 Audio when their earbuds are paired with specific Samsung Neo QLED, QLED, and OLED TV models. This capability allows the earbuds to track head movements, providing a heightened immersive experience.
Lastly, the Auto Switch feature enables Galaxy Buds2 Pro users to seamlessly switch their connection between Samsung tablets, Galaxy Books, TVs, and their phones when taking a phone call. These new features will be available for Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Buds2, and Buds FE users from the end of February.
