Sage Foundation supports education in Nigeria

Sage Foundation has partnered with Sesôr Africa, a Nigerian non-profit organisation, to completely refurbish the school library at the Strides Towers College in Lagos, Nigeria.

Sage volunteers are helping to refurbish the school library — a process that includes furnishing the library, painting and redecorating, and providing books and educational materials.

Sage, the market leader for integrated accounting, payroll, and payment systems, launched its global foundation to set a new benchmark for corporate partnerships through its 2+2+2 model for working with the community.

Under this unique model, Sage is committed to giving 2% of employee time (5 days paid volunteering per year), 2% of free cash flow and 2 donated software licences to eligible registered charities, social enterprises and non-profit organisations.

Sesôr Africa works to empower survivors of emergencies to improve their lives by providing disaster relief and supporting rehabilitation of survivors and their families. It is currently working with around 30 children at Strides Towers College who have lived through emergency situations.

Ivan Epstein, President for Sage International and Chairman of Sage Foundation: “Sage Foundation is committed to transforming the communities globally where we are present as well as the lives of those less privileged by investing time, money, expertise and technology. We believe in a socially-responsible world and in playing a positive role in societies. Focusing on education is one way that we can make a real impact. We hope that the library at Strides Towers College will help the children to prepare themselves for a bright future.”

“We are open about how we give, not only financially but through the participation of colleagues who are also empowered to give to the causes that matter to them,” says Magnus Nmonwu, Regional Director for Sage West Africa. “It is inspiring to see how excited our team is to be part of this initiative.”

“Sesôr and our educational partner, Mend a Life Initiative, are proud to work with Sage Foundation. We are glad that disadvantaged children at this school will have the resources they need for a quality education. It is especially inspiring to see the Sage Team interacting with the children – this gives them a boost money cannot buy,” said Ier Jonathan-Ichaver, Executive Director at Sesôr.
