SAFCOIN Launches Africa’s First Blockchain-Powered Freelance Jobs Marketplace

South Africa-based cryptocurrency tech startup SAFCOIN has launched MobiJobs.Africa which is the first blockchain-powered micro-jobs platform in Africa. The digital freelance jobs platform is powered by the SAFCOIN mobile payment wallet, which accepts card, bank, mobile money, and crypto payment.

Neil Ferreira, CEO of SAFCOIN provides insight into the aims of the platform.

“Our goal with MobiJobs is to help individuals in Africa to take their skills and talents global and to empower small businesses to tap into a global skills pool, as and when they need to. Through the platform, users can gain experience, build their internship hours while studying, ask for testimonials from businesses they’ve completed tasks for, and build relationships with companies across Africa. All this via a free cryptocurrency payment gateway that ensures they get paid quickly and securely, with zero transaction charges.”

The new and innovative platform aims to connect businesses with gig economy workers to streamline the recruitment process, bolster employment opportunities and provide an easy way to connect individuals with possible employment opportunities. The service is free and readily available.

The platform enables SMEs and startups to list jobs, search through possible employees profiles and create an online presence. This free service allows businesses to reduce their costs on recruitment. On the other hand, the platform allows freelancers to market themselves and secure employment. Freelancers are paid in SAFCOIN cryptocurrency and individuals are not required to have a bank account. Payments that are made to freelancers are free of joining and transaction fees.

SAFCOIN has created this offering due to the existing challenges facing gig workers in Africa, where many are unbanked and therefore limited in their access to employment opportunities. Payment is conducted through the secure SAFPay gateway. The payment is secured before the freelancer begins their work and is released once the job has been completed.

“Africa is evolving into the Fourth Industrial Revolution and we’re proud to be at the forefront, creating awareness, educating people, and connecting the youth and businesses through blockchain and cryptocurrency powered platforms like SAFCOIN and MobiJobs,” adds Ferreira.

Through the simple use of a phone or laptop, Africans will have access to global work opportunities and grow their skillset. The platform allows freelancers to communicate with clients, rate their experience and manage their jobs.
