As earlier reported by Innovation Village, the late Bob Collymore, Safaricom’s CEO was pronounced dead earlier today morning.

Burial plans are already underway, and a date for it has already been set. The celebrated CEO will be laid to rest tomorrow, Tuesday, July 2, 2019, just a day after his death.

This was announced in a media briefing hours after Collymore’s passing, by Safaricom board chairperson, Nicholas Ng’ang’a.

Tomorrow’s service will only be open to close friends and family, but a memorial service will be held later on this week. The latter will be open to members of the public.

Collymore, a 61 year old Guyana-born British citizen, battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia (ALM) for a while, falling victim to repeated misdiagnosis.

He sought treatment in the UK in October 2017, before returning to resume his post as Safaricom CEO.

His condition is said to have deteriorated for the past two weeks before he passed on this morning at his Nairobi home.

According to media personality, Jeff Koinange, the late Collymore was aware that he had less than a month to live.
