Safaricom, the Kenyan mobile giant, has introduced business management tools in its cloud offerings to assist small and medium scale businesses. These tools will be available through 3G enabled phones.
Customers who want to avail themselves of these services should visit cloud.safaricom.co.ke. There is free one month service for each of the packages.
At the launch which took place at the Norfolk hotel in Nairobi, Sylvia Mulinge, the Safaricom’s business general manager, said the offers target affordability and professionalise data management for small firms. She added that “The software will provide SMEs with an affordable, safe and secure method of storing and managing their data. Many SMEs find the cost of data management such as the purchase of genuine software and servers as well as the hire of professionals prohibitive, however in this case, individual firms will choose services based on need.”
The services will cost KSh. 1,750 for 10 email accounts, KSh. 1,740 for accounting for 5 users, and KSh. 870 for payroll processing for 10 users per month. Web hosting will also be provided at KSh. 1,000 annually, and includes email accounts and a website builder.
