South Africa’s leading flexible workspace solutions startup, Workshop17 has kick-started the new on a high note by bagging a global finalist position in the Global Startup Awards the largest independent start-up ecosystem competition. As the regional winner of the 2019 season from the Southern Africa Start-up Awards (Southern Africa’s Best Co-working Space).

Workshop17 will be going up against five other inspiring ecosystem players and start-ups in the Best Co-working Space category.

Paul Keursten, CEO and Co-Founder of Workshop17 comments on being placed in the finalist round of the prestigious awards.

“We are very honoured to receive this recognition and extremely excited to be given the opportunity to compete on a global level with game-changing co-working space providers from across the world.”

    The awards

The renowned awards take place every two years and it aims to recognize selected innovative and forward-thinking startups in a range of industries. Each selected winner is recognized for their consistent achievements in service and business.

This year’s finale will take place virtually on 27 January 2021. Members of the public are encouraged to cast their vote for their chosen finalist. Public voting is open until 21 January 2021.

    The future of work

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for working spaces and the rise of remote working in South Africa has resulted in the expansion of Workshop17’s spaces. The local startup plans to open a new co-working space in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

The new addition to its operating locations makes it the sixth Wokrshop17 hub for locals to use.

“Our vision is to support South Africans to be more productive wherever they are by providing the necessary physical and digital resources. To meet the moment, our catalogue boasts physical and virtual offices, boardrooms, hospitality services, as well as enterprise technology solutions and solutions for workspaces in the home,”  Keursten concludes.
