South African technology firm focusing on fleet management, GoMetro, has successfully raised £9 million ($11.4 million) from a Series A funding round. This will speed up their goal of digitalizing heavy-duty commercial transport operations and creating a sophisticated fleet management platform for electric vehicles.
Zenobē, a worldwide specialist in the EV fleet and large-scale battery storage, spearheaded the funding round. FutureGrowth Asset Managers, a prominent investment firm in South Africa, also notably participated in this round.
Fleet owners in the bus and truck sectors face intense competition, and embracing data-driven decision-making systems is crucial to stay ahead of the curve. GoMetro’s Bridge platform empowers operators to better manage fleet utilisation, optimise resources, reduce risk, and enhance customer satisfaction, providing a competitive edge in the ever-changing market.
The landscape of heavy goods vehicle electrification is rapidly evolving, with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) introducing electric vehicle (EV) models in big bus and truck models. However, integrating EVs into predominantly diesel fleets presents challenges related to business continuity and managing data streams from telematics, battery management systems, and charger management systems.
GoMetro’s Bridge cloud-based platform seamlessly integrates EV data streams, providing users with a wide range of telematics-driven features specifically designed to support their transition to all-electric fleets. Additionally, GoMetro Bridge assesses the fit of expected EV adoption scenarios for fleet owners, guiding their transition to electrification.
Therefore, the funding will strengthen its software platform and introduce new functionalities to align with the evolving needs of the industry. Zenobē’s expertise in EV fleet management and grid-scale battery storage will be invaluable as GoMetro expands its platform to support more EV models and data sources.
The startup plans to utilize the funding to solidify its operations in the UK, EU, and South Africa while expanding to the US, Latin America, and Australia in the next 12 months. Partnerships with businesses, governments, and organizations committed to sustainable transportation solutions will be crucial in this expansion.
