It has been a trying time for all, however, specifically the hospitality sector, and we are glad to be a part of helping the industry get back on track this season. We have witnessed a huge transformation in the wake of the lockdown, where users are becoming comfortable using apps like Fomo to search for great specials at restaurants and events they might not have known about previously. On the other side, restaurants have also adopted a better approach to tech and venturing outside the traditional marketing channels the hospitality industry is known for.”
With the global pandemic leading to a downward turnout of different businesses within the hospitality and tourism sector, this type of initiative is critical for job survival and economic growth in South Africa. A 2019 report stated that V&A Waterfront hosted more than 26 million users but currently the number has dropped by 40% to the visitors they have now.
CEO of V&A Waterfront David Green remains hopeful that visitors will return. “Tourists and business will come back which includes cruise liners at our Cruise Terminal and we have to be ready.”
