South African eCommerce platform OneDayOnly which holds the esteemed title of being South Africa’s original daily deals website has launched an initiative to support local businesses with a dedicated Shop Local Shop Friday. The initiative will take place on 26 March and aims to support South African manufacturers and suppliers.

Laurian Venter, Director for OneDayOnly explains that the eCommerce platform is dedicated to supporting local businesses.

“20% of our 2000 plus suppliers are local. Of our local top 20 suppliers, 5 began their journey with us as start-ups and are now producing bespoke items for our daily deals platform.”

In addition, the local eCommerce giant has pledged its support for ‘Restaurant Week XXL’, an initiative aimed at supporting local restaurants. OneDayOnly will offer its engaging newsletter subscribers a four-day head start to priority book at one of the Top 100 restaurants that have signed up for the initiative.

The Restaurant Week XXL campaign aims to encourage locals to spend money at the listed restaurants by offering a three-course meal from R245 per person or a two-course meal from R145 per person. The campaign will run from 1 April until 2 May 2021.

The pandemic has had devastating impacts on local businesses, from restaurants to manufactures and OneDayOnly has affirmed its commitment to supporting local by launching the Shop Local day and partaking in Restaurant Week XXL.

“Supporting local has always been a priority for our business. We have helped build local brands and want to continue doing that, so we urge those who’ve had to supplement their income over the last year by setting up their own ‘side hustle’, to get in touch to sell with us,” comments Venter.

OneDayOnly is encouraging local suppliers to get in touch with them to sell their products on the much-loved local platform.

“Those local suppliers wishing to kick start their eCommerce journey should get in touch with one of our buyers as soon as possible. Considering we sold a Cape Town apartment last week in just over 2 hours should demonstrate to potential OneDayOnly suppliers that the sky really is the limit as far as products are concerned,” concludes Venter.
