Rocket Internet launched the online food ordering business, hellofood, first in Nigeria and Morocco in October 2012. It has now introduced the same business in Kenya.
hellofood Kenya officially launched in Nairobi, Kenya in November 2012. According to Bryan Kariuki, the Managing Director in his official press release, “Our belief is that ordering food online should be fuss-free, fast and fun”. Customers enter their area, find their favorite restaurant near them and with just a few effortless clicks, hellofood helps them to easily order food over the internet.
Consumers spend a large portion of their time online and business owners want to leverage the increasing influence of social media and online platforms. “Restaurants are definitely expecting an increase in customer numbers from the cooperation with hellofood”, said Mr. Kariuki. “We’ve spoken to many restaurant owners, and the online delivery service will be enthusiastically embraced by their customers as their hectic lives can take the leisure out of dining at restaurant premises”.
Echoing similar sentiments is Charles, owner of a coffee house in South B “Without a doubt, the exposure from hellofood’s online ordering website would increase business revenue”.
hellofood is Rocket Internet’s first clone in Kenya and I am sure it is first of many to come.
