Following the success of its inaugural cohort, the RevUp Women Initiative has officially launched its Nigeria Edition, reaffirming its commitment to empowering women-led businesses across Africa. This expansion aims to provide targeted support to 150 women entrepreneurs in Lagos, Abuja, and Abia, with a strategic focus on agribusiness and e-commerce—two sectors with high potential for scalable impact.
RevUp Women is a pan-African initiative designed to equip women entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to build and grow sustainable businesses. Through a comprehensive approach that combines enterprise development, strategic mentorship, and access to funding, the programme is helping to reshape the entrepreneurial landscape for women across the continent.
The initiative is hosted by AfriLabs, a leading network of innovation hubs in Africa, in partnership with the Visa Foundation. Since its inception, RevUp Women has been instrumental in fostering inclusive economic growth by addressing the unique challenges faced by women in business.
Participants in the Nigeria Edition will benefit from:
- Tailored capacity-building workshops focused on business strategy, financial literacy, and digital transformation.
- Mentorship from successful women entrepreneurs who bring real-world experience and insights.
- Networking opportunities within a vibrant community of innovators and business leaders.
- Access to funding, with six standout participants eligible for a share of US$24,000 in grant funding.
Nanko Madu, Director of Programmes at AfriLabs, emphasized the transformative potential of the initiative:
We’ve seen firsthand how intentional support and access to the right tools and networks can shift the trajectory of women-led businesses—not just helping them survive, but thrive. Through tailored capacity building, mentorship, and meaningful partnerships, we’ve watched ideas turn into impactful ventures. With this new phase, we are doubling down on both impact and inclusivity, ensuring that more women across Nigeria have the resources, visibility, and community they need to grow scalable, sustainable businesses and become key players in the innovation ecosystem.
The Nigeria Edition of RevUp Women marks a significant step forward in the broader mission to foster gender equity in entrepreneurship and unlock the full economic potential of women across Africa.
