I must confess that this is my first Tecno Phone. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. But as I opened the pack, I saw enclosed a 3G Android Dual SIM Phone, a Tecno Power Bank (MPB02), a Flip Case, a Tecno 12+1 monthsWarranty and the normal accessories. All these for just N34,000; I must say this is quite a steal.
Let’s talk about the Power Bank first. This is a portable power bank with capacity up to 2200mAh. It can be regarded as a charger or a back-up battery with USB output which can be used to charge a mobile phone, MP3, PDA, e.t.c.
The Flip Case is an alternative for the regular existing battery case. So if you are concerned about your screen when you carry the Tecno Phantom Phone, you can use this Flip case alternative.
Now to the phone – My first impression was that it reminded me of the Samsung S4.

The Techno Phantom A, also known F7, comes with an 8.0 MP camera, a 5 inch HD Touch screen and is equipped with Android 4.1 OS (JellyBean). It has a 1.0 dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 1.0GB RAM.
The Phone comes ready with Facebook, Opera Mini, Whatsapp, Google Maps, YouTube and Play Store where users can download over 800,000 innovative and interesting apps.
Though announced in May 2013, the Tecno Phantom A was released June 2013 in partnership with Etisalat Nigeria.
At the event, the Public Relations Manager, TECNO Global, Mr. Mounir Boukali, had this to say “It was our objectives to enable Nigerians acquire smartphones and enjoy a smart life with the TECNO Phones. Now, with the Phantom A, we are offering a superior smartphone with high-end performance and a better user experience.”
He also went on to say that the “Phantom A is the first phone made in collaboration with our two special teams: French designers and Korean ingeniors.” The smartphone comes with high-performance features with rich smart experience which allows users to make a balance between their work and personal lives.
Also at the event, the Director of Products and Services – Lucas Dada had this to say “Existing customers that want to be part of the 12 months free internet access should insert their existing Etisalat SIM cards into the phone and text ‘High’ to a short code, ‘8186’, to receive instant free internet access for 12 months.”
I do believe this is one of the most affordable smartphones in the Nigerian market.
