At its BlackBerry 10 launch event today, Research In Motion (RIM) unveiled its new name – Blackberry, new operating system, and 2 new devices – the Q10 and the Z10. RIM is adopting the name of its famous product, Blackberry, and will trade under the BBRY ticker on Nasdaq, and BB on TSX.
According to the CEO, Thorsten Heins, “We have reinvented the company, and we want to show that in our brand,” He also added “One brand. One promise. Our customers use BlackBerry, our employees work for BlackBerry, and our shareholders are owners of BlackBerry. From today on, we are BlackBerry everywhere in the world.”
On the new devices, the Q10 has a physical keyboard like the older versions of Blackberry, while the Z10 sports a touch-screen. When introducing the BlackBerry Z10, Thorsten Heins said, “This is the most beautiful BlackBerry we have ever launched. I can’t wait for you to try it out. We knew a large beautiful display was important. This is the window into the BlackBerry 10 experience.”
