Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, and the city of Cape Town South Town have been listed among the top 50 most Instagrammed destinations in the world.  The report was recently released by Hoppa and interestingly, the two are the only African destinations on the list.

The southwestern state is Nigeria’s largest city, sprawls inland from the Gulf of Guinea across Lagos Lagoon. Enmeshed with beach resorts, boutiques, and nightlife no doubts the state made it to one of the destination city in the world.

Classified into two parts Island and the mainland is home to the National Museum Lagos, displaying cultural artefacts and craftworks. Nearby is Freedom Park, once a colonial-era prison and now a major venue for concerts and public events.

Meanwhile, Cape Town according to Wikipedia is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the imposing Table Mountain. Slowly rotating cable cars climb to the mountain’s flat top, from which there are sweeping views of the city, the busy harbour and boats heading for Robben Island, the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, which is now a living museum.

Lagos is the 42nd Instagram destination on the list with over 10 million hashtags while Cape Town is 44th on the social media platform. None of them are the most ‘selfied’ locations in the world however they both made it to the top 10 list of cities for scenery pictures. Cape Town is sixth while Lagos is tenth on the list of the most popular spots for scenery posts.

At the top of the list is London(England) with over 100 million hashtags on the social media platform. Coming second on the list is Paris (France) with over 100 million hashtags while Cancun Mexico came last on the list with less than 20 million hashtags.
