Baidu Inc, a Chinese multinational technology company specialising in Internet-related services and products and artificial intelligence (AI), plans to launch an artificial intelligence service similar to ChatGPT that provides users with conversational results.
A large-scale machine-learning model that “excels in natural language understanding and generation,” Baidu announced in 2021, will serve as the foundation for this new system.
Recently, Open AI’s ChatGPT has been making waves in the IT industry with its ability to answer factual questions, write like a human, and even write code. As of this year (2019), Microsoft has committed $1 billion in Open AI and is rumoured to be integrating ChatGPT features into its Bing search engine.
In the meantime, Google is likely viewing the technology as a danger to its search business and will therefore speed up development of its own conversational AI technology.
ChatGPT has apparently caused CEO Sundar Pichai to issue a “code red,” and Google could be readying to unveil twenty or more artificial intelligence (AI) projects, including a chatbot for its search engine, during its I/O conference in May.
According to reports, Baidu has seen slower-than-expected growth in search, and the company views apps similar to ChatGPT as a viable method to leapfrog competitors.
“I am overjoyed to learn that the technological advancements that we discuss each and every day may fascinate the interest of such a large number of individuals. That is not a simple task, “according to a transcript that Bloomberg was able to see, he stated back in December while he was giving a seminar.
The benefits of ChatGPT have been widely praised, but the drawbacks have also received attention. To cite a case, technology news portal CNET had to edit AI-written pieces because of mistakes and worries about plagiarism.
Additionally, ChatGPT was recently prohibited by NYC public schools due to concerns that it facilitates cheating by allowing users to generate articles and essays that are difficult to differentiate from authentic student work.
