Free classified ads websites are gradually becoming popularly accepted in Africa in recent times. Most of classified sites offer free service to enable their users to post classified ads to buy and sell their used items, new products and services. Indeed, that’s not all. Houses, cars, jobs and more categories are also included.
Thus, these platforms are especially convenient for small business owners, sometimes without a physical store, and for those looking to buy or sell used stuff.
Yeebia now stands as one of the largest free digital classifieds sites in Nigeria. This is owing to its accumulated registered users of 3,530,760.
The budding company was founded by an XGO – team in Lagos, Nigeria on August 14, 2019. It has built its presence in most urban areas in Lagos, including Ikeja, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, CMS, Surulere, Ojo, Lekki, Ajah and more.
Like its major competitor, Jiji, Yeebia has comprehensive classified-listings, including houses, cars, mobile phones, electronics, jobs, fashion styles and more. Yeebia’s top three categories for revenues and listings (in order) are vehicle sales, home items sales and electronics sales.
The company provides a free service and convenient platform for its users. On Yeebia, users can communicate with sellers directly and avoid misunderstandings. The whole process of transaction is easy to apply. At present, there are 7,238,870 ads on the website and this allows users to easily compare prices before buying.
Over time, the Yeebia Nigeria app has been downloaded by more than hundred thousand people and received many positive reviews.
User Nnenna Mbamalu commented on Google Play Store: “If you want to buy quality and great items, Yeebia app is the best option. I have chatted with the sellers and I have not had any problems with any seller. I was even sold to at a lower price from what was listed. I just love this app because it introduces me to items I mostly can’t find around.”
Facing an improving commercial environment and internet development in Africa, Yeebia plans to provide a better experience and more safe transaction environment for his users.
However, Yeebia also faces competition in Africa’s growing online classifieds space. Jiji, Yeebia’s main competitor, has acquired one of the largest classifieds platforms on the African market, OLX, and their businesses in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Tanzania. That means they will make a leap in the classfieds business. But the CEO of Yeebia expressed that they are positive about the future of Yeebia Nigeria, even at the face of a seemingly advantaged competitor.
