TechCityNG has launched a new radio show in Lagos that aims to to educate and inform people on global technology.

In an exclusive interview with Innovation Village, Adewale Oladipupo, Editor-in-Chief of TechCityNG said with the quick rate at which new technology trends are emerging, the radion show initiative will make the new trends to reach the trader, the business man, the student, hairdresser, the entire population of computer village and beyond in a manner without barriers.

“Technology is a global phenomenon and as much as we try to be at par with our foreign counterparts, somehow, we (Nigerians) don’t get a bite of the apple when it’s still fresh. TechCity has come to change that. We want to educate and inform people on global technology trends,”  he said.

He identified limited internet access as one of the limitations and barriers that restrict the dissemination of tech news via the internet.

“Audience is also small. People who utilize the internet to get tech news are mostly tech savvy people. But technology has become a part of our everyday lives so it goes beyond just the tech enthusiast,” he told Innovation Village.

“In addition to that, most of the technology website use ambiguous tech terminologies that an average Adamu on the street may not understand, so at TechCity, our model is to break down the mumble jumble into a very simple, easy to understand language.”

The show which airs on City FM 105.1 every Monday at 10:30am will focus on general technology news that affect the lives of people. Topics to be discussed include mobile, startups, entrepreneurship, challenge, updates, tech tips, gadget reviews, interviews with founders and stakeholders in the industry and several others.

For people who want to listen live, they can catch city FM on Tunein. For people who miss it, they can listen to it on Vibeoo or SoundCloud.

On predictions for the tech sector in 2015, he said lots of surprises are expected.

“We expect a lot of surprises to come. I expect a lot of disruption in the mobile sector,” he told Innovation Village.
