Rack Centre Hosts EdgeNext’s Cloud and CDN Services in Nigeria, Boosting Africa’s Digital Future

Rack Centre, West Africa’s premier Tier III carrier and cloud-neutral data centre, has announced the launch of EdgeNext’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) and cloud hosting services in Nigeria. The deployment, hosted at Rack Centre’s advanced Lagos facility, marks a pivotal step in strengthening Africa’s internet infrastructure and expanding the region’s digital capabilities.

    Accelerating Nigeria’s Digital Economy

With a population exceeding 200 million and one of Africa’s youngest, most connected demographics, Nigeria’s digital economy is growing at record pace. Demand for high-speed internet, e-commerce platforms, video streaming, gaming, and social media continues to surge, putting pressure on existing infrastructure.

EdgeNext’s expansion directly addresses this challenge by providing faster, more reliable content delivery and low-latency cloud hosting for local and global businesses operating in Nigeria. Its global acceleration network is designed to optimize performance for video, gaming, and online platforms — reducing latency, enhancing user experience, and improving scalability for developers and enterprises alike.

According to Terence Wang, CEO of EdgeNext, the company’s entry into Nigeria represents a major milestone:

“By partnering with Rack Centre, we are ensuring secure, reliable, and low-latency services for enterprises, developers, and end-users, helping Nigeria embrace a new era of cloud and edge computing.”

    Empowering Businesses and Developers

EdgeNext’s presence in Nigeria gives local startups, SMEs, and digital enterprises access to enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure without the high costs traditionally associated with offshore hosting. Developers can deploy services closer to their customers, resulting in faster load times and reduced operational costs.

Beyond traditional cloud services, EdgeNext is investing in gaming cloud solutions—an area of fast growth in Nigeria’s entertainment and youth culture. Its platform delivers low-latency, high-concurrency acceleration for mobile, PC, and cloud gaming, ensuring seamless gameplay and enhancing Nigeria’s fast-growing gaming community.

The company also plans to drive the adoption of edge computing technologies to support applications in smart cities, digital health, fintech, and education, enabling the broader digital transformation agenda of Nigeria’s economy.

Rack Centre: The Gateway for Global Tech Providers

Hosting EdgeNext’s expansion is Rack Centre, a pioneer in West African data infrastructure known for its sustainability and carrier-neutral model. Its 13.5MW data centre campus hosts over 73 carriers, ISPs, and network operators, offering direct connectivity to every subsea cable landing on Africa’s Atlantic coast — including Google’s Equiano and the forthcoming 2Africa cable.

Rack Centre’s new LGS2 facility, where EdgeNext’s services are deployed, operates with a design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35, achieved through renewable and energy-efficient systems. This ensures reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable operations — a critical consideration for global service providers.

Lars Johannisson, CEO of Rack Centre, noted:

“EdgeNext’s arrival at Rack Centre demonstrates the strength of Nigeria’s digital infrastructure ecosystem. Our LGS2 facility provides the capacity, connectivity, and sustainability that international providers need to serve this market effectively.”

    Strengthening Africa’s Edge Ecosystem

The collaboration between Rack Centre and EdgeNext underscores a broader shift in Africa’s digital landscape. As cloud adoption and streaming demand rise, edge infrastructure — placing servers closer to users — is becoming vital to delivering faster, more resilient digital experiences.

By anchoring EdgeNext’s CDN and cloud hosting services in Lagos, Rack Centre cements its position as the preferred gateway for global technology providers entering Africa. Together, the two companies are not only meeting Nigeria’s growing digital demand but also shaping the foundation for a connected, low-latency, and sustainable digital Africa.
