The quest to find the 2016 App of the Year has begun. This will be the fifth consecutive edition of the award. It is the premier app development event in South Africa.
The App of the year celebrates the champions of App development in South Africa. The aim is to promote home-grown local solutions built by local talent. Apart from cheerleading the industry, the App of the Year Awards offer great prizes, and massive media exposure opportunities for entrants, finalists and winners.
The winners for last year were Wumdrop, Vulamobile, EskomSePush, CPUT Mobile, DStv Now and M4JAM
Developers are able to submit their creations for judging into one or more of the five categories:
– Best Enterprise
- Media & communications
- Ecommerce
- Business solutions & sales
- Utilities
- Navigation (and geo location apps)
– Best Consumer
- Finance & banking
- Entertainment & gaming (including kids apps)
- Media & communications (including community & social)
- Lifestyle (including health & fitness, and personal education)
- Productivity (including utilities)
- Creative apps (including Photo & video)
– Best Enterprise Development App: Drawn from the MTN Foundation app development programme alumni
– Best Breakthrough Developer
– Most Innovative App
The winners will be announced at the App of the Year Awards, which will be held in August 2016.
