Qualcomm, a leading global player in wireless technology, has officially opened applications for the latest iteration of its Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Programme. This initiative is designed to provide startups with invaluable resources, including expert coaching, access to experienced engineers, and guidance on intellectual property protection.

Qualcomm, which is listed on NASDAQ, is an American multinational corporation renowned for its development of semiconductors, software, and services that are integral to wireless technology. The company has been actively involved in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa.

In December 2022, Innovation Village reported on Qualcomm’s launch of its African Innovation Platform, which encompasses the Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Programme. This equity-free mentorship initiative aims to identify and support promising early-stage startups that are eager to leverage advanced connectivity and processing technologies to create innovative end-to-end systems solutions. These solutions may include hardware and software components that address various challenges in the market.

The programme offers participating startups a comprehensive suite of resources, including business coaching to refine their strategies, access to engineering consultations to aid in product development, and expert advice on how to effectively protect their intellectual property. This support is crucial for startups looking to navigate the complexities of the technology landscape and establish a competitive edge.

Applications for the Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Programme are currently open and will remain so until February 16. The mentorship programme is scheduled to run from April through December, providing selected startups with an extended period of support and guidance to help them scale their operations and enhance their offerings in the market.

Startups interested in applying can find more information and submit their applications through the designated portal. This initiative represents a significant opportunity for emerging businesses in Africa to gain access to Qualcomm’s extensive expertise and resources, ultimately fostering innovation and growth within the region.
