Qualcomm, a leading global wireless technology firm, has opened applications for its Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Programme. The initiative offers startups business coaching, access to engineering consultations for product development, and guidance on intellectual property protection.
Qualcomm is an American multinational listed on NASDAQ, manufacturing semiconductors, software, and wireless technology-related services.
Disrupt Africa reported in December 2022 that Qualcomm had launched its African Innovation Platform – a suite of mentorship, education, and training programmes aimed at supporting the growth of Africa’s emerging tech ecosystem.
Resources and support from the platform will be extended to local universities, startups, and grant participants. They will gain exposure to Qualcomm’s engineers and its cutting-edge capabilities in mobile technologies, 4G, 5G, IoT, AI, and machine learning.
Following this, Qualcomm has now launched the Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Programme. This equity-free initiative will identify promising early-stage startups interested in using advanced connectivity and processing technologies, including hardware, for their innovative solutions.
Applications are being accepted until February 18, and the programme will run from April till November, culminating with a demo day in December.
