Nigerian Mobility startup, Plentywaka, has rebranded as Treepz in line with its ambition for a Sub-Saharan African Expansion.
While announcing the change of name, CEO of Treepz, Onyeka Akumah, said, “With our plans for Sub-Saharan expansion in few months, we discovered the word ‘Waka’ means many things different from trips or movement. So, we decided to change it to something exciting that will allow us to scale fast.”
Onyeka also added that the company for the last 6 months has been searching for a globally acceptable name to create the right vibe around travelling across the African continent.
The company also stated that everything about the company’s operations remains the same despite the change of name. The startup noted that many variations can be created from the name Treepz; My Treepz, Daily Treepz, Travel Treepz, Holiday Treepz, and Corporate Treepz.
Treepz as part of the rebranding has released a new company logo. However, it will retain its existing mission statement and the black & yellow brand colour for marketing and branding purposes.
Recently, the company raised $1.2 million in a funding round led by Canadian-based VC firm The Xchange and also acquired Stabus, one of Ghana’s leading mobility startups as part of its expansion plans across Africa.
