Plentify closes oversubscribed Series-A funding round

South African electrotech innovator Plentify has successfully closed an oversubscribed Series-A funding round, bringing its total capital raised to date to nearly US$15 million (approximately R256 million). Plentify specializes in AI-powered hardware and software solutions that connect household appliances to cheaper, cleaner energy sources, helping consumers reduce costs while supporting a sustainable energy ecosystem.

The latest round was led by Secha Capital, Buffet Investments, and a prominent South African family office, with continued backing from existing investors E3 Capital and Fireball Capital. New participants included Endeavor South Africa’s Harvest Fund and Satgana, signaling strong confidence in Plentify’s growth trajectory.

This round reflects both the confidence of our long-term supporters and the belief of new partners who share our vision.

Jon Kornik, Plentify CEO and co-founder

Plentify co-founder and Chief Growth Officer Kailas Nair highlighted South Africa as an ideal testing ground for scalable, subsidy-free energy innovation.

Load shedding and rising electricity tariffs have driven a rooftop solar boom among middle-income households, reaching penetration levels similar to advanced markets—but without subsidies or feed-in tariffs. That forced us to make load management work from day one. Now, as other markets reduce or remove solar subsidies, we have the technology and know-how to help them do the same.

Building on this foundation, Plentify is preparing pilot projects in the UK, Australia, and Brazil, while continuing to scale its presence in South Africa. Locally, its AI-powered home-energy management solution is being deployed by Balwin Properties, which develops large-scale lifestyle estates.

Plentify’s technology is already delivering measurable impact:

    • Conlog, South Africa’s largest metering company, uses Plentify’s load management solution to help municipalities cut costs and improve service delivery.
    • Wetility, a solar technology provider, integrates Plentify’s platform into its residential solar systems.

To date, Plentify’s smart energy network has saved 9.9 GWh of electricity, helping South African households save over R40 million on energy bills.

While the exact value of the Series-A round was not disclosed, the oversubscription signals strong investor confidence in Plentify’s ability to scale globally and lead the transition to smarter, cleaner energy.
