While Google debuted the new Pixel 7 series at its I/O 2022 event earlier this month, the firm has yet to provide more information. However, a Pixel 7 prototype has been spotted on eBay ahead of the official introduction later this year. Check out the information below to learn more!
The Pixel 7 Prototype Has Arrived!
A Reddit user known as u/lucklouie noticed an eBay auction for a Pixel 7 prototype that recently went online. Despite the fact that the Redditor only shared the listing to the Google Pixel subreddit, the eBay seller who created it goes by the name meetveeru and is based in Texas.
In terms of the listing’s specifics, the seller has included a slew of photographs of the Pixel 7 prototype on eBay, revealing the device’s front for the first time. The back panel features a new horizontal camera module with a matte appearance, similar to what Google has teased. The front of the Pixel 7 prototype is identical to that of its predecessor, with a punch hole in the top-center and a non-curved design. Instead of the Google logo, there is an unnamed logo on the rear. This indicates that the device is a prototype, as Google, like Apple, replaces the rear logo with a new logo on prototype units.
Another fascinating feature discovered was that the vendor was clicking the photographs for the item with a Pixel 7 Pro, likely a prototype unit.
It’s important to note that the origins of the Pixel 7 prototype is unknown. Furthermore, once the listing received a lot of attention online, the vendor opted to take the device off the market. If you go to the listing today, you’ll notice a message that says the “listing was ended by the seller due to an error in the listing.”
Is There Another High-End Pixel Device in Works?
In addition, there are some hints that a new, mystery Pixel device with a 120Hz display is on the way. The information comes from 9to5Google, which also recently reported on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro’s display specifications, claiming that they will have the same display as the Pixel 6 handsets.
Furthermore, information about the display specifications of a new Pixel device dubbed “G10” was uncovered in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). According to 9to5Google, this display will be manufactured by BOE, a Chinese display manufacturer, and will have a 120Hz refresh rate, a screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, and a physical size of 71 x 155mm.
The above display’s size and resolution indicate that it is a smartphone display rather than a tablet display. As a result, it’s no longer a possibility that it’ll be the display for Google’s upcoming Pixel Tablet. It’s possible that it’ll be a Pixel 7 or Pixel 6 phone, but details are scarce at the present.
