Pinterest Experiments with AI-Powered Personalized Boards

Pinterest is testing new AI-powered features designed to make its boards more personalized and interactive, transforming how users discover fashion, decor, and lifestyle inspiration on the platform.

The visual discovery platform announced on Monday that it is introducing two new tools — “Styled for You” and “Boards Made for You” — that leverage artificial intelligence to curate and customize user experiences.

The “Styled for You” feature allows users to create AI-generated collages that mix and match clothing and accessories from their saved Pins, offering outfit inspiration tailored to their personal style. By tapping on any item in a collage, users can swipe through AI-recommended Pins to build their look.

Meanwhile, “Boards Made for You” uses a blend of editorial curation and AI-driven recommendations to create personalized boards featuring trending styles, outfit ideas, and shoppable products. These curated boards will appear in users’ home feeds and inboxes, providing a dynamic and evolving experience.

Currently, Pinterest is testing the new AI features in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand globally in the coming months. The company says the goal is to transform boards from simple organization tools into personalized shopping and inspiration hubs, further positioning Pinterest as an AI-enabled shopping assistant.

Pinterest has already infused AI into several aspects of its platform — from visual search to recommendation systems — but it’s also making efforts to maintain authenticity. Earlier this year, the company began labeling AI-generated and AI-modified images and introduced settings that let users limit the amount of AI-generated content in their feeds.

Alongside these experiments, Pinterest is also adding new tabs to make boards easier to navigate. A “Make It Yours” tab will recommend products based on saved Pins, “More Ideas” will surface related Pins across different interests like beauty, recipes, and art, while an “All Saves” tab will organize everything users have pinned in one place.

These updates reflect Pinterest’s ongoing push to evolve from a visual inspiration platform into a personalized discovery and shopping destination, powered by AI but grounded in user creativity.
