South African payment services provider Peach Payments has announced a strategic partnership with MoneyBadger, a leading bitcoin and cryptocurrency payment solutions provider. This collaboration will allow Peach Payments’ merchants to accept payments in bitcoin and a range of other crypto assets, expanding payment options for consumers across the region.
Peach Payments is one of Africa’s fastest-growing payment service providers (PSPs), offering seamless online and offline payment solutions in South Africa, Kenya, and Mauritius. The company focuses on making digital transactions more accessible and secure for businesses of all sizes. MoneyBadger, on the other hand, specializes in simplifying bitcoin transactions, ensuring safe and easy crypto payments for both e-commerce platforms and physical retail stores.
Through this partnership, Peach Payments and MoneyBadger aim to make cryptocurrency payments more mainstream by providing merchants with the tools to accept digital currencies effortlessly.
“MoneyBadger is well-respected and established locally, and offers payments via the majority of crypto wallets, which means more choice for consumers. This made MoneyBadger the obvious choice for our first crypto partnership,” said Anine de Kock, Head of Partnerships at Peach Payments.
The integration is already live, and early transactions highlight the growing adoption of crypto in everyday purchases. According to de Kock, the first purchases processed through MoneyBadger on the Peach Payments platform included spades from a suburban hardware store and light fittings from a well-known specialist lighting retailer, a clear sign that bitcoin payments are moving beyond niche use cases and entering the mainstream retail environment.
