Mobile payments company, Paga, has recorded its 10 millionth user. This is announced by the CEO and Founder, Tayo Oviosu in a blog post last week. It took only 79 days to add a million to reach 10 million whereas it took 989 days to its first 1 million users.
Tayo also announced that Paga’s sister company, a cloud payroll business, is launching soon. However he didn’t give the exact date.
Last month the company announced that it raised $10 million for global expansion.
In Tayo’s words, “We take a long view with respect to the Paga journey, and Nigeria is just the beginning. We will continue to invest in our business in Nigeria and grow our services, offerings, and partnerships. We will deepen our partnerships with Banks and other financial service providers to offer simple digital financial services to all Nigerians. We will also take Paga to other countries where the problems we seek to solve exist and where we have the capability to execute. We are excited to solve problems that exist for over two billion people in the world today.”
Paga commenced operations commercially over 6 years ago and has been a force to reckon with in the payments space tackling mobile payments and banking the unbanked/underbanked.
