Owners of Gokada are set to launch a new service, an on-demand boat service, Gboat, in Lagos, Nigeria on the 13th of June 2019.

This was tweeted by Gokada this evening and in preparation for the service, the site is already up – gboat.ng but none of the features work.

Let the count down begin. GBoat is here, get ready to cruise to your destination without being bothered about the congestion in the city @Gboatng #Gboatexperience #Anewwaytoride pic.twitter.com/7ysbsJ6pbw

Powered by Lagos boats, a boat rental company based in Lagos, some of the destinations already shown on the GBoat site include 3 locations  – Ikoyi (five cowries terminal), Lekki (The Pavilion Jetty) and Victoria Island (The Paradise Jetty).

As the tweet connotes, GBoat is ready to reduce the stress in transportation by avoiding congestion in the city of Lagos. So it is expected that more destination points will be available soon.

It has really been a flurry of activities at Gokada. The company secured $5.3 million to grow its business in Nigeria. This investment was led by Rise Capital which made former Jobberman CEO, Ayodeji Adewunmi, join the company as co-CEO.

We await full details on the 13th of June.
