Nigeria is known globally for its originality in the entertainment industry. It has been able to create its own music and its followership, extricating itself from the clutches of foreign music since the early 2000s.
In this new scene, a relationship that has transcended the different cultures and languages, is that of two Rap megastars. This relationship has introduced an originality that is really reminiscent of the innovation of the average Nigerian.
We have Olamide Adedeji also known as Baddoo from the west and Azubuike Chibuzo Nelson better known as Phyno from the eastern part of Nigeria. Individually they are megastars in their own right and put together they have been able to collaborate to show that it is cool to rap in our indigenous languages.
Phyno started his musical career as a producer in 2003 but released his debut studio album, No Guts No Glory, in 2014. On the other hand, Olamide released his debut album Rapsodi in 2011.
Here are some of the collabos between the two that bear mention.
Phyno Ft. Olamide – (Ghost Mode) – 2012
Phyno Ft. Olamide – (Fada Fada) – 2016
They have even done an album together – 2 Kings released in 2015.
